Movement: A Way Of Life

Movement: A Way Of Life

I can hear it now...Movement as a way of life, huh? Well, of course! We move every day!

But, it is so much more than that. Teaching group fitness classes and training clients aren't just "jobs", and dance isn't simply a "hobby." I LOVE doing these things. There is something ingrained in my DNA that drives me to move every single day.

And I'm not talking about just walking from my house to my car and back again; I am talking about full body, heart-pumping, sweat-dripping, endorphin-exploding movement! If I am not MOVING, my day doesn't feel complete.

So, how do I move? I take or teach class, dance around the house, bust out some push-ups and sit-ups when I have been at a computer all day and feel antsy, stretch out while I am watching my beloved Grey's Anatomy, pick-up Morgan (yes, like actually pick him up because it is fun!), and the list goes on and on. It doesn't matter what it is, I just have to be moving.

I've been a mover and groover since I was little and I can't seem to slow down. Both my majors in college, dance and American Sign Language, reflect that need for movement.

Obviously, dance has everything to do with movement ( has to do with stillness too but that is a totally different topic, smile), and American Sign Language is an entire language created with movements of the hands, fingers, torso, eyebrows, and mouth. I think I fell in love with sign language because it was so easy and natural for me to pick up. It is like my hands are dancing!

I am passionate about moving. I don't feel like I "work" because what I do is fun! I get to go to the studio or gym and PLAY. I sweat it out with other people who are dedicated to living a healthy lifestyle and we push ourselves beyond our limits. There is nothing that fulfills me more than helping people stay fit and healthy.

So, yeah...movement IS my way of life! Everything I do revolves around the body and it is exciting, fulfilling, and makes me utterly happy!
